Send an announcement to the team
Preview a Discord announcement, choose DM recipients and inspect delivery results.
You need announcement-sending permission. To post to a channel, configure it in Settings → Bot and ensure the bot can access it.
Prepare and send
Section titled “Prepare and send”Open Announcements, enter a clear title and message, apply any formatting and color, and review the Discord preview. Decide whether to send staff DMs too, then use the send action and inspect its delivery results.
The message form has a 2,000-character limit. Link a wiki procedure instead of putting a long document in the announcement.
A saved announcement appears in sent history; saving does not prove all deliveries succeeded.
Choose DM recipients
Section titled “Choose DM recipients”With DMs enabled, you may target selected staff ranks. With no rank selected, recipients are saved-active or on-leave members, excluding blacklisted and blocked accounts. Other statuses are excluded.
This filter affects DMs only. It does not change who can read the Discord announcement channel. Check channel access for restricted information.
Read the delivery result
Section titled “Read the delivery result”| Result | What to do |
|---|---|
| Sent | Discord confirmed sending; it does not prove the message was read. |
| Pending | Continue remaining deliveries rather than create another announcement. |
| Refused | Check channel permissions or recipient DM settings, then retry refused deliveries if offered. |
| Uncertain | The message may already exist. Check Discord before sending again. |
If the creation confirmation was lost, use the check-and-resume action on the same draft. It retrieves the existing request instead of intentionally creating a second one.
Find or remove history
Section titled “Find or remove history”Search sent announcements by title, content or sender and use pagination as needed. Continue outstanding deliveries from the existing record.
Deleting a StaffNest history entry does not recall messages already posted in Discord or DMs. Wait for an in-progress batch if the panel requires it. A partial delivery does not require an entirely new broadcast.
Resume after closing the browser
Section titled “Resume after closing the browser”Drafts are retained for seven days in this browser, for the current account and server. If the send confirmation is missing, Check and resume sending retrieves the same request after a reload. Do not create a second announcement to bypass that check. If browser storage is unavailable, a notice asks you to keep the page open.
Deleting an announcement from history requires confirmation and does not remove messages already published on Discord.
