Create and complete training
Build step-based courses and separate completion from manager validation.
Training modules contain text, link or video steps. StaffNest distinguishes a member finishing the steps from a manager validating their progress.
Complete your training
Section titled “Complete your training”Open Training, find your progress, select a module relevant to your rank and start or continue it. Complete each step before marking it done. After the last step, check whether manager validation is still pending.
You can review completed material. If a step is blocked, give its title to your mentor or training manager instead of marking it done prematurely.
Create a module
Section titled “Create a module”With training-management access, create a module with a clear title, description and at least one titled step. Choose its type and content, optionally target a rank, decide whether it is mandatory, then save and inspect it.
A module without a target rank applies to all ranks. Rank changes can alter whether a module applies. Mandatory status alone does not create a personal deadline or automatic reminder; use a training automation for eligible follow-ups.
A good first module might ask the recruit to read the rules, observe an intervention and complete a supervised exercise. Link detailed explanations from the wiki.
Validate progress
Section titled “Validate progress”In global progress, inspect the relevant member and module. Check that all current steps are complete and verify learning through your own discussion, observation or exercise. Then validate it. StaffNest does not perform that assessment for you.
Change or retire a module
Section titled “Change or retire a module”Changing a title or reordering steps preserves validations. Adding or removing a step, or changing its content or type, requires a fresh validation. Completion of unchanged steps is preserved. The edit form explains the impact and asks you to acknowledge content changes before saving. Tell affected members what they need to review.
Renaming a rank also updates courses targeting it. A rank still targeted by a course cannot be deleted; change that course’s target first.
Archive a module to stop offering it while preserving its history; restore it if needed. Deleting a module also removes associated progress, so use archive when history matters.
Training complements onboarding. Before a recruit starts, check their rank, relevant modules and mentor. If validation is refused, refresh and check the active module, current steps and member’s current rank.
